Breakfast Club Update

Dear Parent / Guardians,

The Welsh Government has provided guidance to Local Authorities that breakfast clubs can continue as normal.

Please ensure that you have completed a new breakfast club registration form and contract.

Whilst we appreciate that this is in line with more of you returning to your places of work, rather than working from home, we need to work with you to ensure that the numbers involved don’t make our school Covid-19 risk assessment and management strategies more difficult to manage.

The Covid-19 guidance we have received, based on the local level of risk, asks us to limit large gatherings indoors. As such, at present we will not be holding whole school assemblies.

In line with the current guidance, we would be grateful if you could support us in limiting the number of pupils accessing breakfast club, using the facility only if you have no other option.

  • Please only send your child to breakfast club if you have completed the registration form and contract and received confirmation that we have processed the information.
  • Only send your child if you need to. To support a safe Covid-19 environment, we would like to keep number of pupils in the hall to a safe number. If your child can come to school between 08:50 and 09:00, that would be the preferred option.
  • If you absolutely must use breakfast club as you have no other option, please ensure pupils arrive between 08:10 and 08:25am. The door will be closed at 8:25.
  • When arriving in school for breakfast, the pupils will find the following organisation in place. We would be grateful if you could remind them of the arrangements before they arrive at school.
  • The register of pupils with places allocated by the LA will be used as they arrive to ensure they have a place.
  • Once marked on the register, the pupils will go straight to the serving hatch to receive their breakfast.
  • The pupils will be sat at designated tables in year groups. They will not be able to move from table to table and will need to stay with their year group.
  • At 08:50 pupils will be taken to their classrooms.

When you are bringing your child to breakfast club, please can you wear a mask when on the school premises. There is no longer a need to follow the one-way system, but the wearing of a facemask is a good preventative measure, and your support would be very much appreciated.

I am sure you will agree, it is in all of our best interests to work together to keep everyone safe and well and to minimise any potential risk of further disruption to the children’s education.

Your support of our work, organisation and risk assessments is very much appreciated.

My very best wishes,

Mr Davies.

Headteacher

Breakfast Club Registration and Consent Form

Previous information

If your child requires a place in the summer term breakfast club (12th April – 20th July) please complete an application form using the following link https://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/breakfastclubform.  The form will be available for completion from 7am, Friday 12th March to 5pm, Friday 19th March. The number of places due to Covid restrictions will be limited to ensure that social distancing and effective hygiene and preventative measures can be maintained. Places will be prioritised based on the time of application and you will be notified at the end of the application if you are successful or unsuccessful.  Unsuccessful applicants will be placed on a reserve list and non-attendance will result in places being reallocated. Please note that in light of the current legislation in relation to breakfast clubs, prioritisation cannot be given to specific groups (e.g. previously unsuccessful applicants, vulnerable groups or key workers) as this provision is intended to provide a healthy breakfast to all learners. As places are restricted, please only apply if your child requires access to a free, healthy breakfast before the start of the school day.
