Admissions at Penygawsi Primary School

Welcome! All admissions to Penygawsi Primary School are managed by Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Admissions Authority.

If your child is approaching age 3, you’ve moved into our catchment area, or you’d like to join our school community, please read the information below and click the button at the end for full details.

Nursery Admissions

• Children start part-time Nursery in September of the school year they turn three.
• You will need to apply for your child's Nursery place in the Autumn term prior to their third birthday.
• Before starting, your child will:
  • Visit the school and meet the Nursery team.
  • Attend a parent information meeting to help with the transition.
• Register with RCT Admissions before the September start date.

Pre-Nursery Admissions

We may offer places earlier if space allows:

• January intake: for children turning 3 between September–December.
• After Easter intake: for children turning 3 between January–April

Reception Admissions

Children in our Nursery must reapply through RCT Admissions for a Reception place.

Mid-Year (In-Year) Transfers

If you wish to transfer your child during the school year:

1. Speak to your current school’s Headteacher first.
2. Contact RCT Admissions:
   • Call 01443 281111 or email schooladmissions@rctcbc.gov.uk.
3. The admissions team will check space availability

• Penygawsi Primary School does not process admissions directly.
• All applications go through RCT Admission
